We respect the trust you place in us when you share your information, whether you are sending a surprise or receiving one. We treat the information of both the sender and recipient as confidential.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and how we protect it.

By using www.surprisingly.in or using our services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Our Privacy Promise

Your information stays confidential. Whether it is your name, mobile number, email address, home or delivery address, location, recipient's information, gift preferences, occasion details, personal messages, questionnaire responses, or account information — we treat it as confidential information.

We collect and use information only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, improve and support the Surprisingly experience.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We also do not publicly disclose your gifting activity, personal information, recipient information or location without appropriate permission, except where disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law.

2. Information We Collect

Information provided by the sender: name, mobile number, email address, billing information, delivery information, occasion, relationship with the recipient, recipient preferences, selected budget or service, answers to our gifting questionnaire, personalised messages or notes, and other information voluntarily provided by you.

Information about the recipient: The sender may provide information about the person receiving the surprise, including their name, mobile number, email address, delivery address, location or delivery-related information, preferences, interests, occasion information, and other information necessary to create and deliver the surprise.

3. Why We Collect Your Information

Surprisingly is not simply about sending a product. We use your information to understand the person, understand the occasion and create a suitable surprise.

Your information may be used to understand your gifting requirements, curate your surprise, select suitable items, prepare and package the surprise, arrange delivery, contact you regarding your order, coordinate delivery where necessary, send OTPs and service-related communications, process payments, provide customer support, handle cancellations or delivery issues, improve our website and services, prevent fraud or misuse, and comply with applicable legal requirements.

4. Recipient Privacy

We understand that the recipient may not have directly provided their information to us. When you provide another person's information to Surprisingly, you should have the appropriate authority to provide information necessary for the purpose of sending the surprise.

We use recipient information primarily for: Curation → Preparation → Delivery → Customer Support.

We treat the recipient's personal information as confidential and do not unnecessarily disclose it to the sender or other parties. Likewise, we will not unnecessarily disclose the sender's personal information to the recipient.

5. Your Location Is Confidential

A delivery location may be necessary for us to make your surprise possible. Whether you provide a complete delivery address, location, PIN code, landmark, or map/location information, we treat such information as confidential.

Location information may be used only to the extent reasonably necessary for purposes such as determining delivery feasibility, arranging delivery, coordinating with delivery partners, providing the requested service, and preventing delivery errors or fraud.

We do not publicly display your address or location.

6. Keeping the Surprise a Surprise

This is one of the most important parts of Surprisingly. We want both sides of the experience to enjoy the moment. The sender may not know exactly what has been curated. The recipient may not know exactly what is coming.

We therefore take reasonable steps to keep relevant information confidential throughout the process. However, certain information may need to be shared with a delivery partner or service provider when necessary to successfully complete the delivery.

7. Who May Receive Your Information?

We may use trusted third-party service providers to operate Surprisingly, including payment service providers, delivery and logistics partners, hosting providers, OTP/authentication providers, email/SMS/WhatsApp communication providers, technology and software providers, analytics or security providers, and customer-support providers.

We share only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service. For example, a delivery partner may need the recipient's name, phone number and delivery address to complete a delivery. That does not mean the delivery partner receives all information you have provided to Surprisingly.

8. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

Surprisingly does not sell your personal information as a product. We do not sell or commercially trade your phone number, email address, home address, location, recipient information, gifting preferences, or questionnaire responses with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

9. Payment Information

Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers. Depending on the payment method, your payment provider may process card, UPI, banking or other payment information. Surprisingly does not need to store your complete payment credentials on its own systems when those credentials are handled directly by the payment provider.

10. Account and OTP Information

If you create an account or use OTP-based authentication, we may process your mobile number, email address, OTP verification information, login/session information, and account-related information. OTP information is used to verify your identity and help protect your account from unauthorised access.

11. Cookies and Technical Information

Our website may automatically collect certain technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, pages visited, website interaction information, and cookies and similar technologies.

We may use this information to keep the website functioning, improve website performance, understand website usage, improve customer experience, maintain security, and analyse website traffic.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure, misuse, alteration, loss, and destruction. However, no online system or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for purposes including providing our services, maintaining your account, customer support, accounting and business records, fraud prevention, resolving disputes, and meeting applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we may delete, anonymise or securely dispose of it, subject to applicable requirements.

We will seek to limit such disclosure to what is reasonably necessary.
